EXPERIENCES
Martina Franca
A beautiful town in the Province of Taranto, famous for its wonderful baroque architecture, for the Capocollo (cured pork neck) protected and promoted by the Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity, and of course for the wine, known as Martina Franca DOC.
The city has hosted for about 40 years the famous Festival of Valle d’Itria, a summer event that attracts many fans of opera and symphonic music every year.
The countryside surrounding the city has hidden numerous caves of considerable archaeological importance.
The town has many places, where you can just stop by to taste typical dishes filled with tradition. Like for example orecchiette (small ears) pasta, the main dish that triumphs not only at family tables but also at restaurants. The Capocollo of Martina Franca is among the best in Italy and it shares its honour with the tradition of the town’s wine, the famous Martina Franca DOC.
